Liposuction is a procedure performed to remove localized fat deposits in different parts of the body, that are otherwise difficult to lose by dieting or exercise. Contrary to popular opinion it is not a treatment for obesity. The art in performing this procedure is to remove the excess fat deposits leaving behind enough cushion to cover the prominences that are so important to the configuration of the body silhouette and the facial profile.
Liposuction can be performed as a sole procedure or in conjunction with other facial and body sculpturing procedures where surgical excision of excess skin is indicated. The metabolism of adipose tissue or fat is essential in the regulation of the energy balance of humans.
The fat mass develops by an increase in the number and size of the fat cells. There is a gradual enlargement of each fat cell through out life, however the number of fat cells increases mostly during childhood and adolescence and usually becomes constant during adult life. The distribution of fat deposits varies between men and women. Whereas excess fat usually accumulates around the abdomen of a man (known as "love handles" or "spare tires"), it is deposited in the hips, buttocks, and thighs of a woman plus her abdomen.
We also perform other cosmetic surgeries like thigh and buttock lift, tummy tuck and calf and buttock augmentation at our Beverly Hills and Los Angeles centers.
