Breast reconstruction is performed mainly to correct congenital deformities of the breasts or following mastectomy for breast cancer. There are multiple procedures designed to accomplish an acceptable cosmetic result.

Some of these procedures include:

1) Reconstruction with breast implants.

2) Insertion of distender to stretch the breast tissue and then replacing breast with a permanent implant.

3) Latissimus Dorsi flap.

4) TRAM flap from the abdomen.

5) Free flaps with microvascular anastomosis.
